Walt Disney Concert Hall
With a full day planned ahead, I met up with Davis alumnus Steven Wong, who had hosted me and my friend Ella Tran on our previous trip to LA. First stop of the day: a self-guided audio tour of the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Grand Central Market
After the tour, we ate lunch at the Grand Central Market. I fell in love with this place. The Square offers fresh produce and a great selection of food ranging from Chinese, to Mexican, to Middle Eastern.
Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The moment I’ve been waiting for. My friend Steven was able to get us two priority seating tickets to be part of a live television taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! I was back on Hollywood Boulevard.
On the way to the studio I spotted this out front, which was created for Jimmy Kimmel’s NBA Finals special.
We weren’t allowed to take pictures once inside, so here’s a YouTube screenshot of me sticking out ever-so-prominently.
So what did this NBA Finals Special entail, you ask? Matthew McConaughey was basically given one attempt to make a three-point shot on the outside court. If he made it, the whole studio audience would win a certificate for some gourmet Omaha Steaks.
The result:
The whole audience screamed and jumped like crazy, and I was happy to take this back with me as a souvenir:
And to get these lovely steaks a couple weeks later:
These steaks were of course devoured by my family in less than a week.
